This book is intended to be a general purpose dictionary. It is now used by educated urban speakers from Java. This area is standard linguistic of Java. The birth dates of Javanese who work on the dictionary represent a span of less than a quarter of century.

 

Conversely, an occasional Javanese world is shown with Indonesian affixation alongside its Javanese affixation. Technological and academic terminology in Indonesian, borrowed from western languages for the most parts. English words whose meanings are obvious are also not included except in a few cases as examples of the Javanese tendency to assimilate a new words in their morphological patterns.

 

The vast majority of Javanese words are neutral with respect to social connotation. But a thousand or so of the most commonly use words in the language are restricted to particular situations defined by the relationship between speaker and the people they are talking about. For each item with built in social limitations there is at least one other item with the same denotative meaning but complementary social implications.
